The Xbox Game Showcase live stream has revealed what games Xbox players can expect to enjoy with the Series X. It was a LONG stream so we've broken down our favourite games for you to enjoy. In the livestream Xbox showcased games from 9 of their 15 studios, along with revealing 5 first party games. Pretty clearly we're sure there's even more to come for the Series X.
Xbox Game Pass
One thing they appear to be proud of is the inclusion of all of these games with the Game Pass subscription, whether that means paying any extra is not yet known but this is impressive none the less and should give access to these games to a wider audience who don't want to fork out £50+ for every new game.
Halo Infinite
The live stream kicked off with one of the most recognisable games for the Xbox - Halo Infinite. We got to see an 8 minute game play demo which boasts beautiful scenery, a variety of weapons and a story which is set to be rich and engaging. Check out the demo below for yourself.
State Of Decay 3
The newest instalment of the successful State of Decay series is due to debut on Xbox Series X. Not much was revealed in terms of game play but it's sure to be an interesting experience. We see a lone woman in the wilderness being stalked in the night by an unknown animal, worse than that though is the zombie dear shown to be eating a wolf carcass the next day. No sign of the human zombies though so we'll have to wait and see.
Forza Motorsport
It wouldn't be an Xbox Game Showcase if Forza wasn't included, it's still in early development so we didn't see too much. Everything they showed was captured in engine and they're obviously very proud of their ability to confidently claim the game will play with native 4K at 60 FPS.
Everwild
Everwild is a beautiful looking game, it has a cartoon style and was described as a "magical and untamed natural world for you to explore and just truly lose yourself in." From what we saw in the Xbox Game Showcase teaser we couldn't agree more.
Tell Me Why
A mysterious story of two siblings experiencing visions after a traumatic childhood event involving their mother from the team behind Life Is Strange, Tell Me Why is set to be a fun and interesting play through. Like their previous games Tell Me Why is split into chapters with Chapter One available from the 27th August.
Ori And The Will Of The Wisps
This game announcement isn't new, a teaser for Ori And The Will Of The Wisps was originally debuted at E3 2017. It looks to have had an update to be in line with the higher spec of the Xbox Series X.
The Outerworlds: Peril On Gorgon
Peril On Gorgon is the first DLC for The Outerworlds and it's clear to say that a lot of content is making its way to the game. You'll be able to head over to a mysterious asteroid in order to investigate Adrena-Time and its origins. Not an Xbox exclusive but it's due to be released on 9th September.
Grounded
If you're tired of old films being rebooted then this game mayyy not be the one for you, it's basically a game version of Honey I Shrunk The Kids. You have to "Survive the yard" and make yourself big again - sound familiar? It's set to be released on 28th July on early access.
As Dusk Falls
The style of this one is a little big different than the rest on our list so far, developed by Indie studio Interior Night in partnership with Xbox. It's an interactive drama but the trailer doesn't give away too much in terms of game play. The premise of the game will span 30 years and is set in the American Southwest and involves "two familes whose trajectories collide in the Arizona desert in 1999"
Psychonauts 2
There's not many ways to describe this game other than a bit of an acid trip, but it has Jack Black singing so it's made our list
Destiny 2: Beyond Light
If you're a Game Pass subscriber and Destiny fan then you're in for a treat. You will gain access to all Destiny expansions this September. Game Pass Ultra subscribers will get the added benefit of being able to play Destiny 2 remotely from the cloud.
Warhammer 40,000: Dark Tide
This 4 player co-op first person shooter looks perfect for those who enjoy horror and just mowing down "unrelenting hordes"
The Medium
Another horror style game but this time with a twist. In this 3rd person psychological horror you use your psychic abilities to solve puzzles in both the real world and the spirit world. Not only that you have to survive encounters with The Maw - "a monster born from an unspeakable tragedy."
Fable
The final game announced in the Xbox Game Showcase was another Fable game. The last full Fable game was released 10 years ago so it's no surprise they saved this for last.
So what did you think of the Xbox game showcase? Has this influenced you to get that pre order for the Series X or are you still on the fence? If you're like me though, the PS5 showcase is still winning in my opinion.
