The Sims 4 originally came to a PC near you back in 2000 and it's still going strong in 2020. Playing the base game is plenty for some, they still get semi-regular updates, whether they're bug fixes or new items. If you want a more "true to life" Sims experience, then the expansion and stuff packs are perfect. That's not to say that every pack is perfect, so we've made a list of our favourites.
Cats And Dogs
Released to PC in November 2017 this expansion pack is a chunky one. Not only do you get to introduce some adorable four legged creatures to your family but this pack comes with an entire new world, Brindleton Bay. Brindleton Bay is a coastal town and is designed for your Sim to make the most of the great outdoors with their new pets. Stray pets frequently venture around this new town and once befriended you can even adopt them. You can build your own Veterinary clinic and work on your career as a Vet treating animals large and small. As with all packs you can customise your Sim with new clothes and hairstyles and even give their house a once over with exclusive items. An expansion pack this cute just had to be on our list, at launch the price tag was £34.99 but at the time of writing you can grab this expansion for just £17.49!
Tiny Living
This is a pack we didn't know we needed. For the tiny price tag of £9.99 this was a must have addition to the Sims 4. It includes new tiny residential lots where in order to qualify your home cannot make up more than 100 tiles, across all floors. Total. Which can sometimes be easier said than done. Achieving the tiny residential lot trait will reduce bills, increase your relationship gain and increase your comfort. Whilst you don't get a new world with this pack you do get a plethora of new build items and objects for perfecting your new tiny house.
- Tier 1: Micro Home (4-32 tiles)
- Tier 2: Tiny Home (33-64 tiles)
- Tier 3: Small Home (65-100 tiles)

Seasons
If you want a pack which makes the Sims feel more "real life" then look no further than the Seasons expansion pack. We've had this expansion since the Sims 2 days so it wasn't all too surprising when we got it for the Sims 4. It introduces weather, a calendar for national holidays like "Winterfest" along with the new career of Botanist. Also, as with all Sims 4 expansions, you get all new clothing and objects to give your Sim the perfect place to live, come rain or shine.Originally £34.99 this expansion can currently be picked up for a steal at just £17.49!!
City Living
City Living gave us the option of living in apartments in the bustling city of San Myshuno. The city is split into four districts; the Arts Quarter, the Fashion District, the Spice Market and Uptown. Once again new careers are included but with this pack we get 3; politician, social media and critic. Objects have a more contemporary feel as do the clothes included with this pack. There are regular markets, events and places to go in San Myshuno so there's really something for any Sim. Similar to Cats and Dogs this was £34.99 but is currently on sale for just £17.49.
Island Living
Another new world to add to the collection is Sulani - a tropical paradise. Along with beaches and being able to play in the ocean the most entertaining part of this pack is being a mermaid. That's right - a mermaid! Childhood dreams made.Once again there's the introduction of fitting careers with the options of conservationist, fishing, diving and even being a lifeguard. As expected this game has the most relaxed vibe and encourages your Sims to take life with the flow and interact with other Sims. Engaging in local culture is key to making the most out of this pack, so why not go seek out some locals and hear all about the history of the island? As with all expansions packs this is currently as cheap as £17.49!
