4 Video Game Chefs We'd Love Making Our Pancakes

What’s the best day of the year? Some say it’s Christmas, others will say Easter, and many chant Halloween. But where’s the love for Shrove Tuesday – or as we like to call it, Pancake Day!

Whilst Pancake Day is the traditional feast before the start of Lent, at Venom HQ, it’s just another excuse to feast on our favourite delicious treat. Usually, our office debates last for hours on whether it’s sugar and lemon, maple syrup and banana, or a whole bunch of Nutella.

But this year, we’ve got bigger fish to fry (or pancakes to flip)! We’ve spent hours arguing over which video game chefs we’d like cooking up our pancakes, and whilst most of them will end in utter chaos, we guarantee these are the 5 video game chefs we’d love making our pancakes on Pancake Day 2022.

Chef Fujimoto (Octodad)

In a game where nobody knows an Octopus is undercover as a human, it’s hard to have hope for anyone cooking up a delicious stack of pancakes. But series antagonist Chef Fujimoto, driven by his desire to chop up and cook our hero Octodad comes close in our books.

You might sit there and think he’s Japanese and has a taste for seafood and sushi, there’s no way he’d whip up a batch of pancakes. But what makes pancakes work so well is the passion and dedication put into making them – and Chef Fujimoto’s dedication to catching Octodad is second to none.

Zest (Epic Chef)

Since arriving on the shores of Ambrosia, Zest’s taken over a haunted farmhouse, cooked demon cows, and somehow crafted delicious dishes in nothing but a boiling pot. Whilst Zest’s pancakes could flounder like a fish, we’ve got faith they’ll go out all buns glazing.

Throughout Epic Chef, you grow your own ingredients, create hundreds of tasty dishes, and craft a dream menu. And that’s why we want Zest cooking up our pancakes. Whether it’s his love of exotic ingredients like dragons eggs and unicorn hooves or his sheer desire to create the most delicious dishes, we know we’re going to get pancakes that are out of this world.

Quina Quen (Final Fantasy IX)

If we’ve learnt anything over the years playing FinalFantasy games, it’s to expect the unexpected. And Quina Quen is definitely unexpected. Whilst they leave a lot to be desired as a member of your party, we have hope for this head cook’s ability to cook up a feast for Pancake Day.

Once hired as the head cook for Alexandria Castle, we’ve no qualms about their culinary chops. Known for wielding forks as weapons and driven by their desire to discover delicacies through taste-testing anything and everything, we’re pretty sure a plate of pancakes from Quina Quen could be as delicious as any.

Cooking Mama

In our quest for the perfect plate of video game pancakes, we’ve travelled to foreign lands and far-away worlds. But our real champion was right here in front of us all along. That’s right, we couldn’t cook up a list about video game chefs without mentioning Cooking Mama, could we?

Considering the entire series is based around building up our culinary skills through Mama’s recipes, you know that this chef is no amateur in the kitchen. And there’s something about home cooked meals, especially pancakes, that make them even more special. So when we sit down on Shrove Tuesday, we want the happiness and warmth only Cooking Mama’s pancakes can bring.
